iRobot Vacuum and Mop Review
Contrary to other robot vacuums, this one isn't afraid to take on the stairs. Like all mops and vacuums, it is susceptible to clogging due to particles, like tennis shoes, thread, jewelry, or other loose items.
You can use the iRobot Home app to label rooms and create no-go zones. You can also track the progress of your mops and their battery levels.
iRobot Combo j7+
The Combo j7+ is a robot vacuum and mop that combines smart mapping capabilities of iRobot along with the ability to deal with spills. It has the same acoustic sensor onboard and iAdapt 2.0 Navigation as other Roomba models and maps your home seven times more quickly than previous versions. It also lets you set Keep Out Zones and Clean Zones to tell the robot which rooms it should avoid and when to clean them.
The most notable feature of the j7 is its robotic arm which keeps the mop pad hidden away when it's not in use, and then lowers it to deal with carpets or hard flooring. The idea is to not spray water on the rug, and the Combo J7+ did well at this during my tests. The robot backed away when it saw a rug and didn't try to go over it, even though I moved the rug several times.
The arm comes with an 240mL tank that can be easily removed and filled, so it's simpler to operate than the mop pads of many other 2-in-1 robots. It is equipped with iRobot PrevisionVision obstacle-avoidance technology which is more advanced than other systems similar to it.
iRobot Combo i5
This multitasker can mop and vacuum in one machine. Its vacuuming is accomplished with a specially designed bin that can hold up to 60 days worth of debris, which iRobot claims will reduce the amount of dust re-released into the air during the process. The i5+ is equipped with dual multi-surface rubber brushes and Power-Lifting suction that can tackle dirt and dust hair, pet hair, and stains. When you're ready to mop, simply switch in the Mopping Bin and a compatible cleaning solution.
The i5+ uses iRobot OS, which means it gets smarter as you use it. It creates a Smart Map, which remembers the names of rooms as well as your preferences for cleaning. You can then direct it to clean a room or set a schedule for a complete section of your home with the iRobot app.
iRobot is able to detect household clutter, such as shoes, bags cords, toys, and even cords. It will then stop and return to the docking station, giving it to recharge and complete the cleaning task later. It also supports voice commands with Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri and Google Assistant, understanding around 600 voice commands, which is more than any competing 2-in-1 robot.
iRobot Combo j5
This robot vacuum and mop from iRobot is a good choice for homes with both carpets and hard floors. It utilizes intelligent mapping and avoids obstacles to ensure that it cleans efficiently. It also offers multiple mopping modes and the powerful SmartScrub system which helps remove tough staining. In addition, it can set No Mop Zones in order to ensure that carpets aren't sucked up, and its dock automatically refills the mopping solution. This model is more expensive than the previous Roomba Combo j7+, however it has more features.
Its patent-pending Mopping Drive System applies a pressure to the floor, allowing for a deeper clean. It also removes tough staining. It also works under furniture and into tight spaces for better cleaning. The Combo J5+ is compatible with the iRobot Clean Base for automatic dirt disposal.
Smart Mapping allows it to navigate your home seven times faster than before5, while identifying rooms with 90 percent accuracy6. It can even make an entire map of your home, allowing you to clean up any area you like after just one run. It also can avoid objects such as cords, backpacks or pet toys. It also will avoid shoes, socks and litter boxes. With the iRobot app you can plan your home's cleanings and control your best rated robot vacuum and mop combo from any location.
iRobot Combo i3
The iRobot Combo i3 is an updated version of the Roomba i3. It has a HEPA filter to trap allergens and the same great external dust compartment, however it now supports smart mapping. This means that you can designate no-go zones to prevent it from vacuuming those areas again. The i3 Plus still has a variety of other fantastic features, including its advanced cleaning system with 10x power-lifting suction and a three-stage process for cleaning. It also features a textured exterior to keep away fingerprints, dust and pet hair.
It removes most dirt and is a great choice for unfinished flooring, but did experience trouble with pet hair when used on low-pile carpets. It is quieter and does a great job on carpets with high pile. The i3 is a little more expensive than the Roborock S4 Max but it comes with a self-emptying station that emptys the dirtbag, fills its water reservoir and cleans its mop pads.
You can design cleaning schedules using the i3 App. You can also control your robot with your voice assistant to start or stop cleaning. It will also monitor the unique layout of your home to give you a personalized cleaning routine and scheduling. It utilizes advanced mapping sensors to help you navigate hardwood and carpet floors, and learns how you clean to optimize performance.
iRobot Combo i2
The Combo i2 is the latest robot mop and vacuum from iRobot. It combines iRobot’s smart floor cleaning technology to make it a great choice for homes with hard flooring as well as carpets or rugs. The Combo i2 has a combo system that lets it switch between vacuuming or mopping by pressing a button. It also comes with iRobot’s advanced navigation technology. Its PrevisionVision navigation system is superior than average, and it will steer clear of obstacles, like power cords and stairways.
Its Smart Map remembers the rooms you clean and your preferred settings. It can even tell if it's in a room that needs special attention, like the living or kitchen. It also has the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal system that removes dirt in a controlled manner for up to 60 days.
Another excellent characteristic of the Combo i2 is its dual multi-surface brushes. They are more effective than standard mops, taking dirt from edges and corners. The robot's acoustic sensor allows this. The Combo i2 also offers powerful suction as well as an intelligent design. It can be controlled by the iRobot App, voice assistants and an adjustable calendar.
iRobot Combo i1
The Combo i1 robot vacuum can also mop. If it detects an area that requires cleaning an arm that is a robot with a cleaning pad raises the entire unit and then swings beneath it. The back of the unit has a dust bin and water tank that can be removed to supply cleaning solution. The robot uses a proprietary Bona cleaning solution, but it can be used with other brands.
Contrary to other robot vacuums, the Combo i1 can retract its mophead completely to the top of the robot when it spots carpet. It is able to vacuum the carpet, then wipe it clean with its microfiber cloths. This ensures that all surfaces are clean. It has a full suite of sensors and impressive navigation skills to help it avoid obstacles like furniture and cords.
It also has an upgraded battery that will last longer and self-emptying mode that decreases the frequency of emptying the dustbin. It's a great choice for families who want the convenience of a single robot, but with the flexibility offered by the various cleaning modes. It can be controlled with voice commands using Alexa or Siri on devices that support Google Assistant. It can be programmed to start and stop at certain time intervals.
iRobot Combo i4
This iRobot robot vacuum and mop is perfect for those who want a clean and tidy home without having to lift a finger. It works with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can control it with voice commands. Additionally, it comes with smart mapping technology that means you can set a schedule and the robot will do the task for you.
It has an docking station that has low profile and occupies a small space. It also has an empty dirt compartment. However it's impossible to view the inside of the compartment since it's constructed of opaque plastic. The i4 also lacks features like the AI-powered obstacle-avoidance and keep-out zones that are found on the j7 or j7+.
It does come with a strong vacuum system and rubber brushes that do not get tangled by pet hair. It's an excellent choice for homes that have high-pile carpets because it can handle more dirt and debris than weaker vacuums. The i4 also requires less maintenance and has lower costs for recurring maintenance and is more efficient in the lowest suction mode.
